Dog bite and animal attack claims often involve puncture wounds, scarring, infection risk, nerve issues, falls, knockdowns, or emotional trauma after an attack. The claim may be against the dog owner, handler, property owner, landlord, or an insurance policy such as homeowner or renter coverage.

The review usually looks at how the attack happened, where it happened, who owned or controlled the animal, whether animal control or police were contacted, photos of the injury, medical treatment, scarring, missed work, and insurance information. These claims can be especially sensitive because the responsible person may be someone the injured person knows.
